Chocolatiers of the High Winds by H.B. Kurtzwilde
A gay steampunk adventure. Follow the weekly travails of young Mayport Titus, and his intercontinental airship journey to restore the fortunes of the Titus Chocolate Company. (Do you need to start at Chapter One?)
Chapter 42: Fortune
Frog was soon of Joseph’s opinion about Mayport. “Don’t anything suit you? If I had a pile of gold like this, I’d be one happy son of a bitch. All you do is complain, no matter what you get.”
Mayport kept a sharp eye on Frog’s reckonings as he complained in his turn. “It’s stolen from men who worked harder than I ever did. I might not even be able to give it back.”
“Even if you knew, they might not be here to give back to,” Frog said. You ought to worry on your own self, not a bunch of deadbeats. If those ones are like my daddy, they never did mean to pay back. Not in money, for sure.”
“You think about as much of yours as I do of mine,” Mayport said.
“Mine didn’t leave me a lockbox full of gold,” Frog said. “If you can’t think what to do with it, I got ideas.”
