Chocolatiers of the High Winds by H.B. Kurtzwilde
A gay steampunk adventure. Follow the weekly travails of young Mayport Titus, and his intercontinental airship journey to restore the fortunes of the Titus Chocolate Company. (Do you need to start at Chapter One?)
Chapter 38: Prodigal
“Mayport, you’ll never believe it,” Ma shouted from her position at the bow. “You’ve got your own town!”
“That seems unlikely,” Mayport said, as calm as he could be. “We can go on north if you like. There’s plenty of supply, good weather, and the sun hardly up yet.”
“It’s Sunday,” she said, and dimpled like a little girl. “There’s sure to be a church, and it’s early enough for services. We could all do with being grateful, after what we’ve come through.”
He could hardly meet such a request with his usual indifference. He let her go tell Cully while he went below to warn Joseph. “Your mamma wants for some preaching.”
“Why’s that make her mine all of a sudden?” Joseph asked. “Anyway, where do you mean to find a preacher, way out here?”
“Cully has found my pinhole,” Mayport said.
