Chocolatiers of the High Winds by H.B. Kurtzwilde
A gay steampunk adventure. Follow the weekly travails of young Mayport Titus, and his intercontinental airship journey to restore the fortunes of the Titus Chocolate Company. (Do you need to start at Chapter One?)
Chapter 37: Saunter
Mayport stuck to his agreement with Oliver, and waited for Cully to return with his ship. As the days passed, Ma Thiervy became more confident in his assurances. She rarely saw him spotting Mister Thiervy’s spies, or his return-threat to their intrusion. She only thrilled to have an escort of stature, and trusted completely in his protection.
Joseph was more discreet and active in the way he watched over his mother. Semi-amused tales of fights near to legendary cropped up in every quarter. By Mayport’s count, the father and son had fought a half-dozen times in every bar that had room to swing. In such a town as this, bars outnumbered horses, but so did the tall tales.
Enough was true that Joseph came home to be patched up every time he went out alone.
