Chocolatiers of the High Winds by H.B. Kurtzwilde
A gay steampunk adventure. Follow the weekly travails of young Mayport Titus, and his intercontinental airship journey to restore the fortunes of the Titus Chocolate Company. (Do you need to start at Chapter One?)
Chapter 35: Desserts
Mamma Thiervy was made to be more aware of her company, but for weeks had no other interruption. Mayport had resigned himself to the unseasonal seasons, and local customs that defied the days. Costor set the example of gentle indulgence, and she matched him merrily.
Mayport had known worse vices, and at last, it was only the fashion she had admired in her youth. Eager conviviality was a sight better than a lesser lady might have done. He followed her example by tending his business and readying himself to earn his keep without Costor’s ready advice.
“They say a man can’t run a business down here without abandoning all morality,” Costor said, like a warning. He was having fun triple-checking his cargo manifest. “How do you intend to live?”
