Mayport’s housekeepers were never happier than the day Thiervy finished the roasting oven. No longer was their kitchen invaded by low commerce. Their home was quiet only when they had things their own way, so Mayport was just as proud.

He lost himself in the daunting task of roasting all the stock he had left. More than once he longed for even one of Gasteau’s sons to help him. The one he missed the most would have been no help at all with the task at hand. Mayport wished for him just the same.
