Women Pirates

I agree entirely with Paul about the outlaw appeal of pirates, with one quibble--for me, the only things sexier than pirates in general are girl pirates, whether naked or clothed (and really, chain mail bikinis don't go well with the pirate life.)

I did go for a variation on the outlaw theme, though, making my East Asian woman pirates take sides with China in the days leading up to WWII (and not just because their captain had a crush on Madame Chiang kai-Shek.) Pirates taking sides in wars has not been unusual throughout history, and sometimes the difference between pirates and privateers was largely in the eye of the beholder.

My research for "The Pirate from the Sky" was deeply interesting, and I'll come back later to expound on it. Right now, I have to get back to cleaning up my NH cabin that was flooded during Hurricane Irene. Makes the life of a pirate seem appealing by contrast. Oh, wait, pirates probably had more trouble with hurricanes than most folks on land, so there's that.

See you in a bit.
